MYOEn — Cold Chain and Warehousing

Uninterrupted power for operations where a gap means a loss.

Your refrigeration load does not forgive power gaps. Your grid connection does not forgive growth. One system addresses both.

Two constraints. One system.

Cold chain is not like other industrial sectors.

Most operational sites face one of two grid problems: not enough capacity for growth, or not enough resilience for continuity. Cold chain faces both at once — and in this sector, the consequences of failure are not operational disruption. They are product loss, regulatory notifications, and insurance events.

Your refrigeration load already pushes the grid connection close to its limit. Any expansion — more racking, more chilling zones, additional throughput — hits the fuse ceiling. And a grid failure that causes a temperature excursion is not an inconvenience. It is a documented event with consequences that extend well beyond the immediate loss.

HNordic addresses both with the same installation. Not as two separate products. As one system designed specifically for the demands of a continuously operating cold store.

The system

Designed around load predictability — the cold chain advantage.

Cold chain and refrigeration loads are among the most stable and predictable in any industrial sector. Compressors cycle on known schedules. Temperature set-points define base load with high accuracy.

That predictability is a commercial asset. It makes the system sizing more accurate and the output commitment more reliable than for any other sector HNordic serves. The site assessment produces specific figures, not ranges.

What the system delivers
Power continuity

Instantaneous — not diesel-speed

When the grid fails or fluctuates, the BESS takes over instantaneously. Not the 10 to 30 seconds a diesel generator requires — no gap at all. No temperature excursion. No product loss protocol. No compliance event. The refrigeration never knows the grid went down.

Capacity for growth

On-site generation the grid cannot provide

Generation is sized against your refrigeration load profile — base load, compressor cycling, peak draw periods. The system covers what you need now and the headroom your expansion plan requires.

Invisible operation

AI energy management

The AI management system optimises continuously across generation, storage, and refrigeration load. It manages charge and discharge cycles against your load profile and against grid pricing — capturing value when prices go negative. No active management required.

On the diesel generator question

Two layers of continuity — not one.

Many cold stores already have a diesel generator. It solves the extended outage problem. It does not solve the switchover gap.

A diesel generator takes 10 to 30 seconds to start. In that window, refrigeration compressors lose power. For most temperature-controlled environments that gap is manageable. For some products and some regulatory frameworks, it is not.

BESS switchover is instantaneous. The generator becomes the secondary backup for extended outages. The BESS becomes the primary bridge, covering the gap the generator cannot.

The two systems complement each other. HNordic assesses both as part of the site evaluation.

Regulatory and insurance

Addressed directly — not avoided.

Temperature records are a legal requirement in most cold chain markets. A power gap that causes a temperature excursion is a documented event. The BESS prevents the excursion — which means the event does not occur.

On the insurance question: changing the power infrastructure of a cold store is a legitimate concern for any operator who takes their insurance position seriously. HNordic provides technical documentation to support the insurer's review. The instantaneous switchover and continuous power architecture typically improves rather than complicates that assessment. Involving your broker early in the site assessment process is recommended.

Ownership and finance

One partner across the full system.

Systems are purchased outright or co-financed by HNordic. The structure depends on the site, the technology, and the business case.

Installation is phased and sequenced to maintain continuous refrigeration operation throughout. The site assessment includes an installation plan that maps against your compliance requirements. Your temperature records are protected at every stage.

HNordic designs, installs, and operates the system under a long-term service agreement. From the first assessment to long-term operation — one relationship, one point of accountability.

The first step

A site assessment answers the questions that matter

What your site can generate. How the BESS is sized against your refrigeration load profile. What expansion capacity the system provides. How installation is sequenced to protect continuous operation and your compliance obligations.
