Heating Systems

Most commercial heating systems run longer and harder than they need to. EHP® technology changes the economics without changing the infrastructure.

Modern commercial radiator installation in a large commercial building interior
The problem with conventional heating

Why buildings overspend on warmth

A conventional wet radiator system works by circulating large volumes of water at high temperature -- typically 55--70°C -- through a circuit that takes 10--12 minutes to reach operating temperature. The building pays for every minute of that warm-up cycle, every time the system starts. In a commercial property with multiple zones cycling on and off across a working day, that overhead accumulates.

The inefficiency is not a fault in the system. It is a consequence of the underlying physics: slow heat transfer requires more energy input, higher operating temperatures, and longer run times to achieve the same comfort level. The system works. It just works harder than necessary.

EHP® technology

A different mechanism

HNordic radiators use EHP® (Enhanced Heat Performance) nanotechnology -- a patented nanofluid that transfers heat up to five times faster than conventional water or standard electric heating elements.

The practical result: a HNordic EHP® radiator reaches its full working temperature in under one minute. The heating system does not need to work as hard, run as long, or operate at as high a temperature to deliver the same comfort level.

In a wet system, the nanofluid requires significantly less water volume to achieve the same heat output. Water volume in the circuit is reduced by up to 80%, which reduces pressure on pumps and pipework and allows operating temperatures to drop to 28--30°C -- roughly half the temperature of a conventional installation. Lower operating temperature means lower heat loss, longer system life, and less energy consumed per degree of comfort delivered.

In an electric installation, the same principle applies: a 600 W HNordic EHP® radiator reaches approximately 27°C across its full surface area in under one minute, evenly distributed, without cold patches. The same comfort output, delivered more efficiently.

The technology has been in commercial and residential use internationally for over a decade. HNordic EHP® radiators are CE-certified.

What it delivers

The measurable outcomes

Up to 55%

Reduction in heating energy consumption

Under 1 min

Time to full operating temperature

Up to 80%

Reduction in water volume in wet systems

28--30°C

Operating temperature in wet systems (vs 55--70°C conventional)

Three outcomes follow for a commercial property:

Lower operating cost. Up to 55% lower energy consumption means lower heating bills -- directly and without reducing comfort. The same building, the same occupancy, paying materially less for warmth.

Longer system life. Lower operating temperatures and reduced water volume reduce stress on pumps, pipework, and the radiators themselves. The system runs at less than half the thermal load of a conventional installation.

Compatibility with existing infrastructure. HNordic EHP® radiators work with existing wet systems. There is no requirement to replace pipework, change the boiler, or redesign the circuit. The radiator is the upgrade. Installation is straightforward; no extended commissioning period.

Regulatory context

Where heating efficiency fits

The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD, EU/2024/1275) requires commercial buildings across Europe to improve their energy performance on a government-mandated timeline. Heating is one of the largest single contributors to a building's energy rating.

A measurable reduction in heating energy consumption -- the kind that a HNordic EHP® installation produces and the kind that can be verified from metered data -- contributes directly to a building's Commercial Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating. For property owners facing an efficiency rating deadline, that contribution is not incidental. It is the argument.

How it fits

Within the integrated system

Heating load is one of the data streams the AI energy management system monitors across the property. In a building that also carries generation and storage, the system can time heating cycles against battery availability and grid tariff windows -- reducing the grid draw that heating would otherwise create.

The radiators operate independently of the rest of the infrastructure. The value compounds when they operate within it.
